Flyer Size Guide: A4 vs A5 vs A6 - Which Should You Choose?

The three standard flyer sizes

A4 (210 x 297mm), A5 (148 x 210mm) and A6 (105 x 148mm) are the three most common flyer sizes, and each is simply half the size of the one before it. That relationship matters practically: an A5 flyer is exactly two to a sheet of A4, and A6 is four to a sheet, which is part of why these sizes are the standard default rather than something more unusual.

A4: the most content, the most visible

A4 gives the most space for detailed content, multiple sections, or a longer message, and it is the most eye-catching size when displayed on a wall, noticeboard or in a window, simply because it is physically the largest and hardest to miss. The trade-off is cost per unit and that it can feel like too much flyer for a very simple, single-message promotion.

A5: the most common all-purpose size

A5 is the most widely used flyer size for a reason: it is large enough to hold a clear headline, some supporting detail and contact information, but compact enough to hand out, post through a letterbox or leave in a stack at a counter without feeling oversized. If you are not sure which size to choose and don't have a specific reason to go bigger or smaller, A5 is usually the safest starting point.

A6: compact and low-cost

A6 suits a short, simple message, a single offer, a QR code and a date, or use as an insert alongside something else, like a leaflet tucked into a bag or a card handed out at an event. Because more fit on a sheet, A6 tends to be the most cost-effective option per flyer, which matters for very large distribution runs where the message itself is brief.

Matching size to how the flyer will be used

Think about where the flyer will physically end up. A flyer meant to be posted through letterboxes or handed to people on the street works well at A5 or A6, since people are more likely to actually keep and read something compact.
