Why CAD and technical drawings need different printing to posters

Plans and CAD drawings are a different job entirely to a decorative poster, even though both can end up at the same large sizes. What matters here isn't vibrant colour or bold design, it's sharp, accurate reproduction of fine lines, dimensions and technical detail, since a blurred or misaligned line on an architectural or engineering drawing can genuinely cause a mistake on site.

Most plans are printed in black and white or a single colour, reflecting the line-based nature of CAD and technical drawings rather than full-colour photographic work. Standard technical sizes, A0 and A1 in particular, are the most common formats we see from architects, engineers and students submitting coursework.

Checking scale accuracy before printing

Scale accuracy is critical for a technical drawing in a way it simply isn't for a decorative poster, so before printing, double-check your file is set up at the correct scale for its intended size, an error here can mean measurements taken directly off the printed plan are wrong.

For a full set of contract or site drawings, we can print multiple sheets consistently so scale and line weight match across the whole set, which matters if drawings from the same set are going to be compared or used together on site.
