What foam board is best suited to

Foam board printing gives you a lightweight, rigid panel, ideal for presentations, photo mounting, retail point-of-sale and indoor signage where you want something more substantial than paper but don't need a fully weatherproof outdoor board. It's one of the most cost-effective rigid boards we offer, which makes it a practical default for short-term indoor display.

Because the core is foam rather than solid plastic, it's easy to cut, mount and handle, useful if you need boards trimmed to an unusual size or shape rather than a standard rectangle. It's not designed for outdoor use, direct sun and rain will degrade the board far faster than a material like Dibond or Correx.

Mounting photos and handling foam board

If you're mounting a photo or design onto foam board rather than printing directly onto it, let us know your source image resolution, since mounted prints are viewed close up more often than large signage, and a low-resolution image will look noticeably softer once enlarged and mounted.

For a display that needs to be reused across several events, order boards on the thicker end of the range, they resist bending and denting in transport far better than the thinnest foam board options, which are best suited to single-use or short-term display.

Corners and edges are the most vulnerable part of any foam board, so if boards need to be stacked, stored or transported between uses, a little care in handling goes further than any coating in extending how long they stay presentable.
